~ Cafe Parunasim ~

Life has run away with me since documenting 'Week in the Life' and I haven't even started my album for it yet. With work, conservatory, trips away, booking our next adventure and buying a new car its been crazy here!

I've had a go at using a double page sketch recently for a layout featuring photos from my holiday to Latvia. I found the sketch over on the Stick It Down challenge blog. I'm not usually a fan of double pages but I had too many nice photos from this café that I wanted to use.

I've been taking Shimelle's Scrapbook Process Class (although I am mega behind!) so I've decided that for my Latvia layouts I'm going to use kraft cardstock as an element to tie the pages together similar to what she did for her backpacking albums.

I used the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Free Spirit' collection mostly but I am now left with very little patterned paper left. There is quite a lot of 'white' space on the page above which I really wasn't sure about until I put both pages together in my album.

I flipped this page of the sketch so it fitted the photos I had. My photos are different sizes to the sketch so I used one less to allow me to add my journaling.

The two small photos are raised up with foam dots to make them stand out and add some more dimension to the page.

We actually visited this café twice in one day it was that good. We first stopped for a hot chocolate in the morning but went back in the afternoon for coffee and cake as they looked so nice. We certainly were not disappointed.

Thanks for reading.

~ Like For Ever - Sketch Sunday ~

Hello there, today I'm over on the Like For Ever blog with my interpretation of this weeks Sunday sketch challenge. I had great fun playing with the 'Little Things' kit for this layout.

Now I really struggled with the flamingos and cacti that were in the kit as I didn't have any photos of either of those subjects. We had many discussions around them at the Like For Ever retreat in March so I thought they would be perfect on a layout documenting our wonderful weekend away.

As one of the pillow presents we each made the lovely Christina printed the retreat details on to a journaling card. I trimmed that and used it as part of my journaling along side the cactus and flamingo.

It was great to meet the people I have spent the last year chatting with on the Like For Ever subscribers Facebook group.

I hope you'll hop along and join us this week and show us your creations.

~ Heart Felt ~

Good Afternoon! Well not much is happening around here today, I've been relaxing in front of the TV catching up on some of my favourite programmes. I try not to tire myself out when I'm on nights.

So here we go again, another beautiful layout from the getaway:

Class no. 5 GogoGetaway March 2011

Prior to doing this class I really wasn't sure it was my kind of thing. However, I absolutely love the final piece. I wasn't so keen on having to sew at 10pm at night but think I managed pretty well.

The small red heart and the pink one was cut out of felt, sewn together and then stuffed with wadding.

The class said to use colour photos but I didn't have any so was really pleased with the result using black and white ones. The photos are all old ones taken of my nan before she got married. She used to work in a children's home in Wisbech.

Well I'm off for a nap before the other half gets in and I have to go out to work!

~ Finally finished! ~

Well this layout has been waiting in the wings for ages! Waiting for me to buy a stamp set that would do it justice. So when I went to Harrogate show on Sunday and spoted the 7gypsies alphabet I knew exactly what it would be used for.
I did this layout at a class about a year ago but never quite managed to finish it. So yesterday whilst trying to shrink my piles of crafting stuff I decided to finish it. I'm really pleased with the finished result.

Have a happy crafting day!
