Documenting December | GoGoGetaway

I absolutely love this time of year but one of the things I loath is the dark overcast days. It makes photographing layouts a nightmare. Here are a few pages from my December album which I created for GoGo Getaway. The focus was to use the WRMK tearing rulers as the technique base.

I kept the technique quite simple as they are small layouts and I wanted the photos and stories to be the main attraction of the pages.

I've used a mix of old and new stash to create my album this year. However, mostly the papers are from the Simple Stories Merry and Bright Collection.

Christmas Cuties | Stick It Down

I'm up on the Stick It Down blog with this new layout using this month's festive sketch.

I've gone for a more subtle approach to the wreath design on the sketch by using white on white. The wreath cut file is by Paige Evans.

Also I'm trying to use up some of last years Christmas stash.

I would love to see you join in with the sketch challenge.

HoHoHo | Bramble Fox & Pinkfresh Studio

This is one of the cutest photos I've ever taken of my male cat. He is so affectionate towards me but such a little scaredy cat if we ever have visitors. He tolerated this cute little Santa hat for such a long time.

I added Heidi Swapp Mist to the background using the packaging technique to break up all the white space. Adding splatters of the blue and also gold mist to create droplets of more concentrated colour to the background.

I used some white tulle that was given to me by the lovely Lisa on the GoGo Getaway DT and it works perfectly tucked under the edge of the patterned paper to add a subtle texture and depth. The stunning acrylic piece makes for a bright and striking title.

Not only was the title created with the 'HoHoHo' acrylic perspextive from Bramble Fox I also used snowflake to create a varied texture. I've developed abit of a love for sequins again over the festive period and scattered them around many of my layouts often in a similar way I would use enamel dots or even Nuvo drops.

Christmas Crafting | Crate Paper 'Falala'

Well Christmas seems like such a long time ago now. I realised whilst I was sorting through some photos of layouts that I never showed a few pieces I created. Much of my Christmas crafting was done with the Crate Paper 'Falala' collection. I had most of this collection and used it for my December Daily album.

This layout was created for the GoGo Getaway December challenge which was to use a specific colour scheme. I went a little different with this layout by not using a white background and used 2 6x12 pieces of patterned paper.

I had this layout on display in my hallway throughout December. I love seeing my recent layouts up on the wall after I've made them.

I used the cut apart from the 6x6 pad to create this Christmas cards for my parents. I had this idea floating round in my head as soon as I saw the little tags.

I've enjoyed playing along with some online challenges throughout the last couple of months. I often join in with the monthly challenges over on the Hey Little Magpie, Hip Kit Club, For the love of pretty paper and GoGo Getaway Facebook Groups and the sketches from Stick It Down and Stuck?! Sketches.

This is another challenge layout I created using the Falala collection. It followed a sketch and used a 'Grab 5' style challenge. I added watercolour to the background using the packaging technique and then added a few stamps on top.

Love is in the Air | GoGo Getaway

Hello 2018! We are back in full swing with Monthly Challenges over on the GoGo Getaway Blog.

I have had this Quote sketched by the Silhouette for ages and haven't had quite the right inspiration for it. I didn't stick exactly to the challenge but it was definitely my inspiration for this layout.

I used the Festive Pinkfresh Studio collection. It's nice to have a change in colour scheme after using the Crate Paper Falala collection throughout my December Daily album. I love the blues, pinks and red.

I used Indian Ink to write the script black words and then my new starlight metallic paints for the other words. I used some exclusive coffee cup die cuts from Hip Kit Club.

OMG, I'm totally in love with that cute little reindeer puffy sticker!!

I can't wait to see what you all think to the challenges this year.

Happy Crafting!

I'll try to share a few pages on my blog from my album throughout December to show how my prep has helped (or not!) with being productive.

Let me know who you are getting on with your album or Christmas crafting.

~ Fabulously Festive ~

I have had a fantastic Christmas period and only had to do a couple of shifts at work. As it was our first proper Christmas in our new home we stayed here and cooked for family on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. One of the best things has been having time to get in my craft room and play with the festive Like For Ever Kit called 'Wish List'.

This Christmas has seen lots of 'firsts' in our household and I didn't have photos to document them all so I used some generic Christmas décor photos and added a list of 'firsts' as the journaling. I was playing around with the settings on my camera to get these monochrome photos just right.

I have had this photos for years! It is a photo taken of my cutie pussy cat called 'Millie' when she was a kitten. This was her first Christmas and she was such a poser! I used a couple of the Coco Vanilla 'Tis the Season' collection die cut embellishments as my title. This is a really simple page and I'm not entirely happy with it. I feel like there is just something missing but can't put my finger on it

I can't resist my layers and the next layout has even more! I found some old yellow/gold star gems that worked perfectly with the embellishments on this layout.

This is another photo that has been around in my craft room for a while. It was taken by my cousins wife in 2013 when we were down for our annual Christmas visit. I absolutely love Christmas and we look so happy here I thought it would be a good thing to document.

The 'Wish List' Kit has been amazing! I have managed to get 7 layouts, 1 décor piece and some handmade embellishments for gift bags all from the kit.

I have a couple more layouts to photograph but the light over the last few days has been awful. The weather tonight is very stormy but thankfully I'm tucked up in the armchair under a fluffy blanket.

~ T'was the night before Christmas ~

I must admit that Christmas Eve is one of my favourite times of the festive season. I'm trying to create a bit of a tradition with my partner where we buy each other new pyjamas and watch a film whilst having a couple of drinks (I would live in pyjamas if I could!).

So back to the Christmas crafting. I have managed to create a few layouts over the month so far. All using the Like For Ever 'Wish List' Kit. I have pretty much fallen in in love with the beautiful colours of the Coco Vanilla 'Tis the Season' Collection.

Last December we went to Berlin for a few days for the Christmas markets and then proceeded to move house a week after we got back. This has meant that I had not scrapbooked a single photo from that trip yet. So I dug out the prints and made a start on at least getting a few memories down on paper.

Both these layouts were inspired by ladies over on the Like For Ever Kit Subscriber Facebook group. One had some teared paper across the page she had made and another had used the die cut embellishments to create a garland. I love how inspirational all the ladies are in the group.

As per usual my love of layers has prevailed and I have lots of paper and pieces around my photos.

As you read this I suspect I will be knee deep in vegetable preparations ready for the big day.

Merry Christmas!

~ MIA in December ~

Ok so I think I need to apologise for my lack of posting over the last few weeks!

All the fun of Christmas seems to have taken over! I am hosting Christmas dinner this year for the first time so finding menu planning and table decorating quite time consuming. Plus I have struggled to get decent photos of my crafty creations due to dull and miserable days here in the UK.

But hopefully I can get back on track a little before heading off on my winter holiday to Thailand and Laos in January.

So I thought I would kick off the festive posts I have planned with a couple of Christmas cards made from the 'Wish List' Kit from Like For Ever. Now this kit mainly features Coco Vanilla 'Tis the Season' and Pink Paislee 'Yuletide' Collections and I wouldn't usually have chosen the pastel colours found in the Coco Vanilla collection but I must say I love it!

Pop back tomorrow as I hope to have a couple of layouts ready to show you.

~ Fabulous Festive Boxes ~

A fantastic Christmas inspired Stampin' Up class run by Monica Gale.

We created gorgeous boxes which have a decorated ikea tea light holder which we coloured using a combination of re-inker, crystal effects and fine glitter. I love going to Monica's class she always inspires me. I really must get some more crafting done in 2014 as I have hardly done anything this year.

Happy New Year!

~ Journal your Christmas - part 1 ~

Well I started off with good intentions of getting my 'Journal your Christmas' Album completed by doing a page a day. However, it didn't last very long. So over the next couple of weeks I'll show you my pages as I get them completed.

1st Dec - A Christmas Manifesto

2nd Dec - This is how I love snuggling up with the fire on when the weather outside is cold and icy.

3rd Dec - This year I managed to send about 50% of people Christmas Cards.

4th Dec - One of my favourite things at Christmas is when Starbucks bring out their Christmas flavoured coffee.

~ Tim's Christmas Journal ~

Some of you may remember that on Christmas Day I posted about the Tim Holtz kit I had managed to buy from his Etsy shop for my mum for Christmas. It would only be right for me to have bought myself one as well.

Well here it is fully completed, well I still need to add photos and some journalling but the book is completed as per the kit instructions.

I'm so pleased with how the book has turned out. It is quite small but is going to be a lovely addition to my Christmas decore.

I was very excited to use my new Distress stains that I got for Christmas from my Mum and Dad. I absolutely love the effect they give the kraft resist paper. Not sure if we have the kraft resist paper in the UK but I absolutely love its effect. By adding tissue tape to the top and bottom of a folded piece of paper it created a pocket for adding mementos, recipes, photos etc...

There were also a number of coredination kraft core embossed pages which I simply distressed to add abit of texture. I'm really pleased with the way it has turned out.
