~ Sheena's Class no.2 | Birds of a Feather Retreat ~

Sheena's class at the retreat focused on using Crate Paper 'Heart Day' collection. We created our own frames using a homemade mould and hot glue gun. The frames are then trimmed and painted.

For this layout we also made our own tassels using crochet twine. Watercolour splatters and packaging technique added colour to the white backgrounds.

Lots of lovely layers using the cut apart sheet and the collection's sticker sheet. I wasn't sure about the rubber heart charms as it's not something I would normally choose to use but they really add a different texture to the page.

~ Sam's Class | Birds of a Feather Retreat ~

One of Sam's classes at the retreat was using Heidi Swapp's 'Magnolia Jane' Collection. This was the class layout and then we also had a bonus layout we could make.

We fussy cut the floral acetate sheet from the collection and made the heart shape from triangles cut out of different patterned papers. Sam loves to use border punches to create detail to the edges of her pages.

When I added this page to my India album I actually realised I have already scrapped a landscape photo exactly the same but it is amazing to see the difference between the two pages.

~ Wilna's Classes | Birds of a Feather Retreat ~

The Guest Designer for the Birds of a Feather Retreat was Wilna Furstenburg. She had designed and videoed 2 exclusive classes for us. She taught us how to create some of her iconic backgrounds.

Everyone created fantastic pages, even those who feel they are not artistic managed to create beautiful backgrounds for their layouts. Wilna created these exclusive floral die cuts for the classes.

I absolutely love these two layouts. The backgrounds look nothing until you add the photos and embellishments on top.

~ Sheena's Class no.1 | Birds of a Feather Retreat ~

At the fabulous Birds of a Feather Retreat Sheena did a fantastic class using crochet twine to cover chipboard frames. This is a great example of using a grid to create an eye catching layout using the Dear Lizzy collection.

This is actually such a simple design and I love the finished item. I will definitely scrap lift this layout again maybe adding some mixed media in there as well.

This page documents our trip to a little tearoom in Staithes. My boy always pulls a funny face and sticks out his pinky finger when drinking tea. I love how striking the black and white photos are.

~ Posh Breakfast ~

When the Cocoa Vanilla Studio 'Wild at Heart' collection I fell in love with it! I only managed to get my hands on the chipboard stickers, enamel dots and some patterned papers so I tried to stretch it out as much as possible.

This layout was created for the Hey Little Magpie challenge to use more than 2 3x4 journal cards. I used the cards from the cut apart sheet in the collection.

It documents my mum and I at Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa Picadilly restaurant having breakfast. I had smoked salmon and cream cheese on pumpernickel bread. We often go to London the day before GoGo Getaway in March and this time it was also an extra special birthday treat for my 30th.

~ Happy | Birds of a Feather Retreat ~

At the end of May I went to a scrapbooking retreat organised by Birds of a Feather in Walsall, Midlands. It was the first full weekend they had done as previously they had only run day workshops. This retreat was my Christmas present from my parents and it was lovely to spend time with my mum and see people who I know online. We were given these great Birds of a Feather Aprons.

I used a mix of the April and May Hip Kits to create this layout. I love that chevron paper from Shimelle's 'little by little' collection.

We had a great weekend and I managed to create 15 pages from the classes and the challenges. I'm going to share some of these pages over the next few weeks.

~ GoGo Getaway | Celebrate ~

This fantastic mood board was created by Lisa for the July GoGo Getaway challenge over on Facebook. My main inspiration that I took from this mood board was the rainbow colour scheme from the quote.

I used a cut file stencil from a Jen Schow online class I took last year and added watercolours to create a graduated effect. I tried to colour coordinate the embellishments with the colour of the circles.

The monthly challenge can be found on Facebook here. Winners will get 1000 magpie points for Hey Little Magpie. Can't wait to see your entries.

~ GoGo Getaway | Hello Life ~

June has been an odd month, I have been trying to get myself back on track following surgery in April. It has been hard not to over do it which has lead to days where I've needed to rest more than I would have liked.

I have managed to get plenty of scrapbooking done which has been an advantage. I was over on the GoGo Getaway blog at the end of last month with my take on the colour blocking technique from March.

Head over to find out about how I have used this technique. I should be back later in the week with another layout.
