GoGo Getaway | Sweet Summer

I'm up on the GoGo Getaway Blog today with a sunny summer layout to brighten up the dull autumn days. I'm determined to use up some of my summer themed Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections.

This month the technique I've taken inspiration from is to decorate a cut file background with some kind of mixed media. I created the background using a cut file from Hip Kit Club.

~ Best Ever - Ice Cream ~

Evening all, I had totally forgotten to blog this layout using Paige Evans 'Take Me Away' Collection. I created this page a few months ago after returning from our trip to Uzbekistan. We found the most delicious ice cream at an Italian deli in Tashkent.

This is quite a simple 9x12 layout that doesn't really need much explanation. I created 3 small areas clustered with embellishments and tried to repeat the designs in each. Hearts are an ongoing theme throughout my album for this trip

I think this layout was created with some of the left over stash from the Birds of a Feather, Paige Evans class from November 2016.

I had a lovely day this week scrapbooking and enjoying a bit of a pyjama day. I managed to create four pages so will be back in the next week or so to show you those.

~ Lazy Days ~

Tomorrow I'm heading down to Coventry for the first Birds of a Feather event which is a day of classes taught by the fabulous Paige Taylor Evans.

As a pre-event challenge we were asked to create a layout/card using teal/sky blue and 3 of something. I was still playing with my Like For Ever 'harmony' kit to create this 9x12 page.

I absolutely love these super cute birds from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes 'gather' collection sticker sheet. I used 3 flowers and 3 hearts on my page and the flowers are also aqua/teal.

Over the last two days of our holiday in Uzbekistan we enjoyed spending time in this book cafe reading, drinking coffee, eating cake and watching the world go by. It was nice to have a few chilled out days at the end of a busy tour.

I will be back next week to show you what classes Paige taught us at the weekend.

~ Drive ~

Happy Tuesday, it's an exciting day in our house as we have an IKEA delivery due with new furniture which includes new desks for my craft room! Super excited!

At the weekend I finally got round to playing with my Ali Edwards 'drive' story kit. It is working fantastically for documenting the interesting road conditions and our long drives in Uzbekistan.

I love the acrylic words which come in the kits. They make such a striking title. It's quite a simple layout from me but I wanted to make the photo and story the star of the page. I think I took this photo when we stopped for a desert pee stop.

Some of the roads outside the cities in Uzbekistan were shocking. Not as bad as some of the African and South East Asian countries but when compared to the city infrastructure it wasn't great.

Unfortunately due to the changes in the dollar-pound exchange rate and the fact that we are planning a few big trips again next year I have decided to cancel my story kit & stamp subscriptions. I'm a bit gutted but to be honest they were piling up and mostly unused.

I will hopefully be back towards the end of the week with more pages to show you. I'm planning on doing a craft room tour when it is finished.

~ Tashkent Title Page ~

Hi there, I'm here with a quick post of a page I created for my travel album. I'm enjoying getting to grips with my photos from our Uzbekistan trip. Especially using some extra large photos.

This layout uses elements from the Shimelle 'Go Now Go' collection. It is a very simple page but I like the striking photo of Amir Temur in front of our iconic Hotel in Tashkent. I like using large photo layouts to identify a change in city or country when creating my travel albums.

Thanks for looking.

~ Holiday Reading ~

We are currently planning our travels for next year and its made me think about our trips over the last couple of years. I haven't shared this page on my blog yet as I'm not overly happy with the photos I took of it. The white background looks almost blue in the photos.

Any suggestions of destinations for our trips? Where have you been that you have loved! There are so many ideas floating around - Burma, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Madagascar, Morocco, Darjeeling - India!!!

This photo is of my fiancé having a well earned rest at the end of our South India tour in January 2015. He isn't one to read normally so it is worthy of scrapping when he does.

I love adding splatters of brightly colourful mist on a white background. Adding in subtle elements for embellishment to try and create subtle decoration. Lots of layers of pattered paper clustered under the 6x4 photo.

~ Adventure Awaits - Uzbekistan ~

It's a bit of a dreary day here in my part of the UK. I'm feeling a little lazy today so I'm snuggled up on the sofa at midday in my pyjamas drinking tea and updating my blog (heaven!). I'm also dreaming of our next trip as I look at the photos from my latest travels.

This layout is a scraplift from the lovely talented Emma (@pollyspapercrafts) who is also a subscriber to the Like For Ever kits. She posted a photo of a similar layout on our kit subscribers facebook group and I immediately saved a screen shot for inspiration later. I even took the photo from the aeroplane window specifically to make this layout. The cut file was from the ?August Like For Ever kit (I think!)

This page has become the title page for my 9x12 Uzbekistan travel album which is slowly staring to take shape. I'm using a lot of the American Crafts Shimelle 'Go Now Go' collection in this album along with some Like For Ever kits to mix it all up a bit.

~ Stick It Down - May Sketch ~

Sorry for being a day late with my reveal folks but I have been away on holiday to Latvia for a few days and was completely wiped out last night. Off for a lovely spa day today with mum to recuperate after my other half made me walk for MILES!

So over on the Stick It Down Blog this month not only is there the usual monthly sketch challenges but in view of it being National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow they are having a giveaway. So to be in with a chance of winning some amazing goodies head over to the blog and join in this month!

This is my interpretation of this months single page sketch. I had allsorts of ideas jumping round my head for this layout but unfortunately life got the better of me and they didn't happen. The black and white photo of me and my other half was taken on an impromptu walk round our local park. I had been stuck in the house for 5 days with a virus and it was a beautifully sunny afternoon so after work we had a little stroll.

Now I'm going to be honest and say I didn't get the hype around the Pink Paislee Paige Evans 'Fancy Free' collection. But since getting it in my Like For Ever kit this month I'm completely in love with it. The colours are gorgeous and there are some super cute button embellishment which are to die for.

~ A Cat'z Tale ~

Good Morning!

This photo has been sat on my computer for a while as I forgot I hadn't blogged it.

It is the final full 12x12 layout I created with the Like For Ever 'Little Things' kit. I cut out the paw prints using my Silhouette Cameo and then back filled them with the red patterned paper. I love this photo of my cat Oscar. He gets himself snuggled up in the smallest of places by my side on the sofa.

I had run out of 'S' letters on the alphabet sheet so had to use a 'Z' instead. I had quite a lot of journaling to write so I split it up in to 2 sections on the right hand side although now it feels a little lopsided to me. I really struggled to use the large die cuts in the ephemera pack but managed to get a few on this page.

~ Day Trip ~

A couple of weeks ago we had a family outing to Yorkshire Sculpture Park with my fiancés nieces and I took way too many photos. So as I've been embracing the pocket pages over recent weeks I thought I would do it for these photos also.

I used up a lot of the leftovers of my Like For Ever 'Little Things' kit. I now have no full 12x12 papers left just plenty of embellishments.

We had a fantastic sunny day, eating ice cream and walking 5 miles. Happy days!

I am totally in love with the cute little pink letter stickers wish I had about 10 sheets of them. The sticker packs that My Mind's Eye produce for their collections are great. Everything coordinates really well together.

~ Bugs in residence ~

My scrapbooking mojo has gone out of the door over the last few days. I've picked up another virus and this time it's knocked me sideways. The head cold is slowly going but the weakness and fatigue is unbelievable. Trying to scrapbook but managing only 45 minutes sessions of very little.

Thankfully I have managed to photograph a few layouts I had completed before getting ill so I will share some of those this week whilst I recuperate.

This super cute layout began life at the Gogogetaway weekend but I didn't get round to finishing it before we left. I had printed this large 6x8 photo of Mr McGregor's Garden at The World of Beatrix Potter and when I saw this gorgeous paper I knew it was perfect. Hey Little Magpie had a whole range of Pebbles 'Spring Fling' Collection in their shop and I couldn't resist those cute bunnies.

Quite a simple layout to put together really just a few layers, 3 main areas of embellishment in a triangle formation and then a few manufacturers strips. The flowers were punched using a Stampin' Up petite petals punch and the Itty bitty flower punch layered up.

~ Stick It Down - April Sketch ~

Welcome to my interpretation for the April Stick It Down sketch blog challenge. To see the sketch I used head on over to the original post on the Stick It Down Blog.

I really struggled with this month's sketch as it was so simple so I had to use my imagination a little more to create a page I was happy with.

I have used the My Mind's Eye 'On trend 2' collection which was in this month's Like For Ever kit. I'm a convert to rub ons! These are the second packet of rub ons that I've had in the last few months and I've loved the effect they give on the background of a page.

This photo is similar to one already in my India album but I wanted to document the reason for stopping at there tea plantations and that we all used the opportunity to take plenty of snaps. I love how the pink and greens in this collection match the colours of outfit in the photo.

Thanks for reading & happy crafting!

~ Hello Morning ~

Happy Saturday Everyone!

This is the first weekend I've had free for quite a while and it's nice to spend some time at home. I'm taking advantage of my other half training for the Sheffield Half Marathon next weekend by spending the afternoon in my craft room.

This is the first layout I have made using my new Silhouette Cameo. I used it to cut the picture frame background from The Cut Shoppe. To be honest it took me a few attempts with this layout as I struggled with the different patterns and amount of blocks of patterns. But the more I look at the completed page the more I like it. I tried to keep the embellishment quite simple.

The layout was made using the Like For Ever April Kit 'Little Things' which includes loads of MME 'On trend 2'. Can't wait for my next kit to arrive at the end of the month. It seems like I've had this current kit for ages as we received it early at the Like For Ever retreat.

This photo isn't very good quality as it was taken in the dark with my phone. Oscar often comes to wake me up in the morning to tell me he wants his breakfast but on this day my partner had fed him and I had gone to bed after my night shift which Oscar wasn't impressed by so he decided to climb on my head!

Thanks for reading & happy crafting!

~ 9x12 Love @ GoGogetaway ~

Welcome back! Today I am sharing a few more of the layouts I created for the 'Be Inspired' Challenges at GoGoGetaway last weekend. These layouts are all 9x12 to fit in to my Thailand and Laos album.

This one was created using one of the colour schemes although I omitted the purple which was also included. This is the absolutely gorgeous 'Hello Sunshine' collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio which I managed to pick up at the Like For Ever Retreat.

It's beautiful bright colours work perfectly for your summer trips or holidays. I love the beautiful aqua colour in this collection and the bike in the wood veneer collection worked perfectly (to be honest I bought them specifically for the bike!).

Next was a 12x12 sketch which I adapted to use on a 9x12 page. I did this layout in the early hours of Sunday morning and must admit it isn't my favourite. Although the more I look at it the more it grows on me.

The last of my challenges is a 9x12 pocket page. The album I bought had a few different types of pocket pages in it so I am determined to add them in to my album. Also after my class last week at the Like For Ever retreat that Jackie taught I really like how they look mixed in to an album.

So this layout documents our Thai cooking class which we did in Chiang Mai. My fiancé isn't very good at cooking but he really enjoyed this. I have used the 'Free Spirit' Cocoa Vanilla Studio Collection to create the small cards to fit the pages plus some extra bits from my stash.

I really like the way this turned out. Just need to do the reverse side of it now.

Thanks for reading!
Pop back at the weekend to see the 'off the page' project from GoGoGetaway.

~ Be Inspired @ GoGoGetaway ~

Not only were the classes a little different this year at GoGoGetaway but the challenges were also revamped. Instead of lots of different sketches, this time we had 2 sketches, 2 recipes, 2 mood boards and 2 colour schemes. We could use them one at a time or mix them up together.

This layout uses mostly Basic Grey 'Typeset' collection with a few other bits from my stash. It was for Niki's 'So Glam' mood board. She had cut all the delegates a heart cut file which was featured on her board.

I love this black and white photo of me and my work friends post theatre. I'm really in to my journaling at the moment and seem to have written quite a lot on some of my layouts.

This time I used Rebekah's sketch to create a layout using my April Like For Ever kit which contained MME 'On Trend 2'. I love this collection but actually really struggled to use its big bright bold patterns.

I did a little mixed media on the background, adding some mists and texture paste coloured with gelatos. I am totally in love with the plastic gold shiny words in the collection.

Next I played around with one of the recipes which was to use a large 8x10" photo. I absolutely love this photo of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and was pleased I could showcase it in this layout.

The embellishments were all from various different collections from my stash that I had taken with me.

Thanks for reading I will be back tomorrow with some more of the layouts I created for the challenges at the weekend.

~ GoGoGetaway Classes ~

Last weekend I had a fabulous time at GoGoGetaway @ Theobalds Park. This is the fifth time mum and I have been to the March Getaway and we always have an amazing time. This year they have altered the class format to allow for some longer class times and more complex techniques. I really loved the new format and the classes seemed less intense and better for less experienced crafters.

My first class was 'Feel the Heat' by Janice and used the Stampendous Encrusted Jewels product to create a distressed metallic effect down the side of the photo and also on some of the embellishments.

I loved the effect of the Encrusted Jewels on the side of the photo. It was a quick process and was a nice relaxed class to ease you in on the Friday night. I'm desperate to finish my India album so quite a few of my layouts feature these photos.

My second class was called 'Global Impressions' by Lorraine. It features the technique of using inks to colour on an embossing folder then putting it through a bigshot machine to colour the impression on depression.
I love the bright clean crisp colours of this layout. We had a choice of colours and embossing folders to use. Also we had supplies and time to have a play around with the different effects and then choose the ones we thought fitted best with our layout.

My third class created by Lisa, it was one of the new style longer classes and it was three hours in total. In this class we were taught how to use the Heidi Swapp Minc Machine and given a small supply of the gorgeous foils.

We foiled the title and lots of butterflies. It's quite fiddly to do and we kept losing the foils whilst trying to place it in the Minc folders.

We created our own chipboard frames to go round the photos. One of the things I love about it at GoGo is that they are more than happy for you to alter the design to suit your style or photo size as long as you can do it with the supplies in your kit.

This class created a beautiful double page spread. Its hard to show the foil effect on the photos but it is beautiful. Another one to go in my India 2015 album.

The final class was a 2 layout class and was split over the morning and afternoon on the Sunday. This class was designed and taught by Niki Rowland and featured designs using the Silhouette Cameo.

The first layout uses a triangle background cut file which we backfilled with lots and lots of triangles cut from patterned paper. The frame s raised up on 3D foam pads and is really effective.

My mum took her selphy printer to the retreat and these photos are actually from the Friday before the getaway started. The next layout also features photos from the theatre on the Thursday evening.

This time we used a background cut file to trace and cut out all the pebbles and in between sections to create this design. Cutting out the pebbles was very time consuming but not difficult so it was a nicely paced class.

I had a brilliant weekend and spent time with lots of lovely people both old and new. We are already planning to book for March next year.

Happy Crafting!
