~ My last contribution for the fayre! ~

Well tonight is my last night shift for this week then I have got 6 whole days off! Woo hoo! Can't wait for a good weekend. It's my fella's graduation on Monday so that should be a good day.

Last but no means least are these four lovely magnetic fridge calendar/ memo boards.

I used my scraps of paper and cardboard from the backs of old notebooks. Inked the edges of the back ground and the post it note block using distress inks.
Punched out flowers from co-ordinating patterned paper and stuck on using mini glue dots. Poundland flat back gems were added to give a bit of sparkle!

Finally I added magnetic strips to the back (which I purchased quite cheaply from ebay) and added a bulldog clip at the top for effect.

I'm really pleased with how these have turned out just hope the Brownie mums and dads will like them too! Will let you knwo how it goes after Tuesday.

~ Burke and Hare - A Review ~

Plot:
Based on the true story about the famous murderers, 'Burke And Hare' follows the hapless exploits of these two men as they fall into the highly profitable business of providing cadavers for the medical fraternity in Nineteenth Century Edinburgh, then the centre of medical learning. The one thing they were short of was bodies.

Review:
I enjoyed this film however it wasn't as funny as I expected it to be. Simon Pegg plays a good character although the Irish and Scottish accents leave a litttle to be desired. The plot line is basic but manages to keep your attention throughout. I'm not sure this quite lives up to Pegg's other films but an enjoyable film all the same.

~ More xmas fayre gifts ~

Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had a great Bonfire weekend! I managed to get to a local bonfire with my fella on Saturday night which was good.

Well heres a few more of my gift ideas that I have put together for the fayre.

I printed off some letter sheets from a website (no idea which one!) Then attached some pens and pencils and a label.

I bought some doggie treats from poundland then bagged and labelled them. I found a dressed up Christmas dog from online clipart to put on the label. I'm really pleased with how well these have turned out, they look quite classy.

I had a few of these bottle openers lying around so have used my scraps of patterned paper to add abit of detail to the window at the bottom.

I used a free stamp from Creativity Magazine 'Just for you!' to add a universal greeting.

I'm on nights tonight so having a lie in this morning before I get up and start on my dissertation! Would much rather be crafting but have put it off for too long now.

~ The Snowman Collection ~

As I said yesterday I had a busy day crafting for the Christmas fayre... So heres the next collection of gifts.

The bags are Snowman Poo made by splitting up bags of mint imperials. Clipart was found via the internet.

Here's a bag of ingredients to make snowman soup with a little poem attached. Such a simple but sweet gift.

No crafting for me as I'm working today, I have done loads of hours this week so looking forward to the end of the month when I get to do less.

~ Despicable Me - A review ~

Plot:
In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru, planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. (Yes, the moon!) Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

Review:
A fantastic kids film which appeals to all ages. Steve Carrell plays a great part as Gru, a lovable bad guy who captures your heart with his rough charm. I would highly recommend this film it is one of the best I have seen in quite a while.

~ Christmas has definately arrived ~

Well today I have been mega busy crafting away in my room making gifts for our Christmas Fayre at brownies (16th November). I'm having a handmade gift stall with all the proceeds going to the rainbows and brownies.

So lets see what I've been up to ...
Lets start with the Reindeer Collection...

These are a few bags of Morrison's Reindeer noses split up in to smaller bags and labels attached.

These are small bags of reindeer poo for those children who have been naughty (unfortunately Santa has run out of coal!). These are simply chocolate covered raisins.

Now here are bags of Reindeer food for the girls to scatter on their doorsteps to attract Rudolph and his friends. These were made of oats and glitter.

The tags have been made using my nestabilities, new stampin' up punches and clipart I found on the internet.

Pop back tomorrow for the next installment...

~ Africa United - A Review ~

Plot:

The extraordinary story of three Rwandan children and their bid to achieve their ultimate dream - to take part in the opening ceremony of the 2010 Football World Cup in Johannesburg.

On the way to the vital selection trial, disaster strikes when Fabrice, Dudu and Beatrice board the wrong bus and cross into the Congo. Without papers, money or a believable story, they are escorted to a children's refugee camp. But with considerable ingenuity and sass (and a World Cup wall chart for a map), our pint-sized heroes escape the camp and set off in pursuit of their dream, picking up along the way a “dream team” of displaced kids, who help them negotiate a series of thrilling and hilarious adventures.

During their 3000 mile journey, we encounter an Africa few people ever see; experience an epic adventure across seven countries; and feel the joy, laughter and hope that comes from making an incredible journey together.

Review:

Well the film didn't quite live up to my expectations. The film was good but quite drawn out showing less of the issues in Africa than expected. There was a good point made about the use of condoms and HIV/AIDS which was well portrayed.

I would recommend this film as an easy watching film and as long as you don't expect too much and go with an open mind.

Happy watching!

~ Christmas favours ! ~

As promised here is a tutorial for the mint favours using the Stampin' Up Punches I ordered.

Using a 1 3/4 inch scallop punch and a 1 3/8 inch circle punch, punch out 2 of each in co-ordinating cardstock.

Glue the circles on top of the scalloped circles using either pitt stick or double sided tape.

Using double sided tape attach an Elizabeth Shaw Mint to the centre of the back of one of the scallops.

Then stick the other scalloped circle on top to create a sandwich.

Then decorate however you see fit! Here I have stamped a christmas pudding, coloured it with promarkers, cut out and stuck on the scalloped circle.
