~ Such a cutie pie! ~

My two cats are my pride and joy (except at 2am when they decide its playtime!). They can be so photogenic and I'm really pleased with this Instagram photo of Oscar relaxing by the radiator.

I am proud to say that I have used up quite a few scraps of paper and left over bits of ribbon. I've never really picked a single colour to focus on but love the different shades of blue used in this layout with a few kraft/brown pieces added in to break it up.

I've realised I'm a lover of layers. I can't help but put lots of different pieces of paper/stickers/tape overlapping each other! On this layout I also used mists and stamps to create added colour and decoratio to the layers.

~ A few spare GoGoGetaway Classes ~

When I was at GogoGetaway in March I managed to pick up a few spare class kits. Mum and I had a scrapping day a few weeks ago and completed a couple of pages.

The first is a Project Life style page designed by Sheena Rowlands. However, I did alter it slightly from her original and used a few different sides of the journalling cards to fit my trip.

Travel is one of my favourite subjects to scrap and I have piles of photos frm lots of trips left to create with. Last year alone we went on 4 holidays abroad.

Then next class I did was by Sam Ball. I haven't added any journalling yet as I'm still trying to think of things for each number that happened last year.

I love this photo from our trip to Italy last October. So far for my journalling I have:

1. 30th Birthday Celebration
2. Crafting retreats attended
3. Engagements for friends and family (me included)
4. Trips abroad (India, Krakow, Italy, Budapest)
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
(I'll add them as I think of more!)

~ Time is flying by ~

I can't believe we are already in the middle of June. This year is flying by super quick. May was mostly taken up by a lovely holiday in Tunisia. We had a lovely time although it now seems like an age ago.

I've been enjoying doing quite abit of crafting recently but just not got round to blogging it to be honest. I don't really like using the blogger app on my ipad as the options for your posts are very limited.

I've been continuing my Project Life layouts although I'm over a month behind. I really enjoy the speed at which you can create something which documents the everyday happenings. In April we had quite a busy month. My Other Half ran the Sheffield Half Marathon in aid of Crohn's and Colitis UK. I went to York twice, once for a Girlguiding Senior section Teams Day and then for my ward manager's retirement celebration. We had a great time at Jamie's Italian and then 2 of us queued to get in to Betty's Tearoom. The coffee and cake was devine!

I'm really hoping for some fantastic weather over the summer as I want to get out and about as much as possible.

Happy Crafting!

~ Project Life - take one! ~

Wow! I can't believe it has been so long since my last post. No idea where the time has gone. Since Gogogetaway I have been having a little play around with my Project Life Stash that I bought. So here goes my first attempt at documenting March:

What I found great about this concept was the ability to scrap everyday life as well as outings and events. I was able to encorporate some souvenirs of things as well. I will certainly be doing more of this but I'm not sure it will overtake my love of creating layouts. I have found it easy to work on this in a spare 15mins where as I never used to do that with layouts. April will be coming soon!

Another reason I haven't been around is that I have been on two weeks of nights with a night away in between. Then there is the fact that we decided to decorate our bedroom. It's been needing doing for ages as the cats took a liking to the previous owners wallpaper. So, knowing what the walls in the house are like we decided to have our first go at wallpapering. I'm really pleased with the outcome.

So the other half is off playing cricket so I'm leaving the mess and heading to my craft room. I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter bank holiday.

~ Welcome to 2014 ~

As I mentioned the other day I have a lovely new American Crafts Album for my 2014 Scrapbooking. So I decided to create a cover page for the start. I wanted it to depict 'thinking about the future' so I actually used a photo taken of a Buddha in Cambodia in 2012 and a quote I found online.

When I saw this paper I new it would be perfect for the front of my 2014 album as it had lots of 'daily' bits already printed on it. If you haven't already realised I love to layer matts, stickers and embellishments.

I've been on 2 long days at work so I'm rather tired. Got a busy weekend coming too. My other half is running the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday. I'll be there snapping away with my camera. Been on a fantastic guiding training day in York today, feeling really enthused.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

~ A bit of fussy cutting! ~

Good Morning,

Maybe some of Sam's love of fussy cutting has rubbed off on me after the weekend as I find myself looking at which bits of a patterned paper I can now cut up. I must say I'm really pleased with this layout it's very pretty.

All the flowers and tickets around the photo frame were cut from the same piece of patterned paper. I loved the map background paper so didn't want to cover too much of it up. Pete and I love to travel and this photo was taken in Krakow, Poland. I spent ages playing with my camera and timer to get it to take a nice photo of us together. I have had the studio calico wooden hearts for ages and this was the perfect layout for them.

I'm really enjoying getting some crafty time at the moment and I'm planning to start doing some Project Life style scrapping as I get very behind on my everyday scrapping. I bought a lovely pink American Crafts D-ring Album for my 2014 scrapping.

Hope you are managing to fit in some crafty time.

~ Mojo back on track ~

Since GogoGetaway I've had a surge of mojo and enthusiasm for crafting. It made me realise how much of a big part of my life it is and I must make more time for it. So today I tidied my craft room and sorted the stuff I took away with me. I then sat down and got some scrapping done.

I have had these papers for ages. They were from an old ScrapaGoGo kit I had lying around. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the photo frame strip. The photos are from a charity ball I attended last year where they had a fun photo booth. We really enjoyed having a laugh with the photos. This was easier after a few glasses of wine.

Might even get back in my craft room this afternoon for round two of crafting.

~ Day 3 of GogoGetaway ~

Sadly, the final day of the Gogogetaway weekend came round all too quick! We had a fantastic time!

The Classes

Fussy cutting seems to be on trend at the moment with a lot of the classes including at least some. The class above had lots of cutting. We had to cut out all the flowers from patterned paper. I have quite a lot of patience but it was a little tedious, but I love the effect.

I love this layout! There are lots of embellishments stuck all over it. We made tree embellishments from cinnamon sticks and paint sample guides. I just need to add some journaling.

The Challenges

This was the final sketch challenge that I needed to complete in order to have finished all challenges for the weekend. I love this layout, it documents how Helen and I took to wearing our hair in a French plait whist in India as it was more comfortable.

I was one of 4 people who managed to complete all the challenges at the weekend and I won a scrapbook as my name was pulled out. I also won a paper stack as my name was also pulled out for one of the challenges.

On the Sunday one of my friends who had been at the last 2 retreats came to visit and do some shopping. She had a baby about 11 weeks ago so we got to meet Nathan and have a cuddle.

Hope everyone at the weekend enjoyed it as much as I did! Big thanks to the GogoGetaway team x

~ Happy Mother's Day ~

Happy Mother's Day!

What a fantastic thing to be away with your mum for the weekend on today of all days. It wasn't planned that way as we have been coming to March Gogogetaway for a few years now. I have treated her to some lovely stash from the Sarah's Cards shop which is here.

Here is the card-a-lope I made for her:

I've not made one before and it was so simple using the Stampin' Up Envelope punch. I'm sure you will see more of these over the next few months. I love the inside too.

Hope you are treating your mum to something lovely today as they deserve it.

~ Day 2 of GogoGetaway ~

So after only 5.5 hours sleep I'm up back ready and raring to go! We have done 4 classes today and I love them all.

The Classes

Busy day with the classes but I must say Janice's Class tonight was very steady and laid back. Lived it.

Sheena's class above was very sticky indeed! We created lots of felt flowers for our layout. (Note: Bostick glue removes nail polish!).

This class by Sam included lots of fussy cutting which was hard going at times. We created this ombré background using beetroot juice, it will change colour as it dries.

I love this piece of home decor created in Eileen's class.magain lots of cutting out by hand in this class. I was ready for a glass of wine by the end.

This class by Janice was lively and laid back. Gentle cutting and sticking. We made our own bobby pin embellishments to adorn the page. It's not a brilliant photo as it was taken on my phone but it suited the layout perfectly.

The Sketch Challenges

So today I have done quite a few sketch challenges and I have lost track as to which design team member they belonged to. So here we go.

I'm really pleased with everything I got done today. I tried to aim to get all the classes and challenges done over the weekend. I love working from sketches, it always gives me inspiration. I was up until 1.30am again (technically 2.30am with the clocks going forward) Saturday night crafting away with some lovely ladies.

Place booked for next March's GogoGetaway! Yey!!!

~ Day 1 of GogoGetaway ~

So the fun begins!

I can't believe how creative I feel when I'm here. I suppose it's because I don't have to think about all the household stuff.

So here is tonight's class:

'Take Two'

I have used a photo from our trip to the Harry Potter Studio tour that Pete and I went to back in November. We made the clapper board using chipboard and patterned paper.

Sketch Challenge - Sheena

I have been wanting to scrap this photo using this paper for ages but not had the inspiration. Sheena's sketch challenge was just what I needed. The photo is of a monk in Cambodia hitching a ride to the temple in Siem Reap on a motorcycle.

Sketch Challenge - Janice

Last year mum and I went strawberry picking at a local field and then had a cream tea at the cafe there. They used the strawberries to make homemade jam which was delicious! I'm feeling really pleased with myself as all the papers used had been in my stash for ages!

Make & Take - Journal Jar

Final last night I decorated a mason jar and filled it full of challenging ideas for if you get scrapbook word block.

We finally decided to call it a night at about 1am.

~ The Day has finally arrived! ~

We have finally arrived here at Theobalds Park for Gogogetaway, the excitement in the car on the drive down was off the scale! But the traffic was rubbish.

So here we go, full photos of all the pre-getaway challenges:

Challenge 1 - 12 elements sketch challenge

Challenge 2 - 2 pretty tags using Gogogetaway colours

Challenge 3 - 'Sublime' layout

Just having a drink in the bar waiting for the weekend to start!

~ Final pre-getaway challenge ~

I must say I am really pleased with myself having completed all 3 pre-getaway challenges. The final challenge was as follows:

Pre-Getaway Challenge No. 3

In Mathematics, the No. 12 is a Sublime Number - so we feel it fitting to celebrate our 12th GoGoGetaway with a layout about something that you feel is 'Sublime!' and we would like you to use the word Sublime for your title.

The English Oxford Dictionary defines that 'Sublime' means:

Of very great excellence or beauty.

Producing an overwhelming sense of awe or other
high emotion through being vast or grand.

No other rules! Just wow us with your 'sublime' layouts!

Here is a sneak peek of my final challenge:

I really enjoyed doing this challenge. I'm trying desperately to get my Vietnam/Cambodia scrapbook completed. Hopefully a few more layouts will be created at the weekend too! I can't wait.

~ Gogo is getting closer! ~

Good morning!

This time next week I will be in full Gogogetaway mode. We will be working away in the first class of Saturday morning, I can't wait!

So the second pre-getaway challenge has been posted. We need to create 2 tags, one to keep and one to swap at the retreat. The only rule is that we need to use Gogogetaway's colour palette of pink, orange, green and brown. I'm really pleased with how mine have turned out. Here is a sneak peek (I will post photos in full on Friday when I arrive at the retreat).

I can't wait to have a whole weekend crafting. Mum and I are having a day together on Monday to complete challenge no.3.

We've had a fantastic weekend so far in Leeds at a charity ball for Water Aid run by Yorkshire Water. The theme was a midsummer nights dream. Hoping for a nice bit of retail therapy at Trinity Shopping a Centre shortly.

Enjoy your weekend!

~ Getting all grungy ~

This is the first project I have cased recently, however I sorry I can't remember where from so can't credit the original design. I have altered it slightly, including the colour scheme. I've made 2 similar cards but with different colour variants.

I really like the result of these 2 cards. Simple in technique but love the grungy effect with feminine colours. I used the 2013-2015 in colour scheme from Stampin' Up. I've fallen in love with their natural white card stock which has specks of brown throughout and isn't quite as bright.

I'm loving sitting in my craft room on a sunny afternoon, just need some inspiration to strike.

Happy Crafting!

~ It's that time of year again! ~

It's that time of year again! Count down to Gogogetaway.

Here is the first pre-getaway challenge:

It's the 12th getaway so the challenge was to use the sketch below using only 12 elements.

I have created a layout using the sketch and here is a sneak peek.

I will do a full reveal on Friday 28th March when Gogogetaway starts. It's gorgeous weather at the moment and I'm just hoping it lasts until getaway. They usually have the most gorgeous daffodils in the grounds of the hotel. However last year we had a lot of snow fall over the weekend so fingers crossed!

I best go and get ready to Zumba now x

~ Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration ~

Happy Valentine's Day!

As I type this my fiancée is off on an adventurous holiday to Patagonia with a friend. I'm going to miss him like crazy but hoping I will manage to get lots of crafting done whilst he's away.

I've used this years Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration stamp and punch to make his Valentine's Day card. I made one similar to this for my dad's birthday using crumb cake base card.

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, absolutely loving the dictionary stamp at the moment. I've booked a reflexology and hot stone foot massage this afternoon as a valentines treat to myself which I may follow with a nice Indian takeaway.

Enjoy your day, happy crafting!

~ First layout of 2014 ~

Finally I have found my Scrapbooking mojo. I have various frames dotted around the house which are home to layouts I did when I first moved in about 18 months ago. Since the my fiancée has moved in so thought I should update them with photos of us. I searched Pinterest for ideas and thought I would do abit of a scrap lift to get me back in to scrapping. However, once I started I never looked at the picture again so not really a scrap lift.

I'm really pleased with how this has turned out. I love the background paper which is from Stampin' Up. Pleased with myself as I have also managed to use up some scraps of patterned paper. I love this photo of us taken at a colleagues wedding last summer. I'm not as blonde now as I couldn't be bothered with the upkeep. Just got the frame across from this one to do now. Just can't wait to go to Gogogetaway in March and get lots more scrapping done!

~ Lack of Mojo! ~

Today I had the whole day off to myself with very few chores to do so I planned to spend the whole afternoon crafting. Unfortunately I really struggled to get any inspiration so I made a batch of cards pretty much the same using another of Monica Gale's fabulous designs as a base. Below are my 3 interpretations.

I'm really pleased with the results and I'm thankfully getting a little stock up on birthday cards which is unusual for me. This is Monica's card which I pretty much copied.

Such a beautiful card. Can't wait until her classes start up again. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some more cards/layouts/projects of my own design.

~ Happy New Year ~

Here's hoping that this years blogging is better than the last. I started out well in 2013 but fizzled out after March. I feel it's going to be a busy year for us, hopefully with plenty of crafting along the way.
We might even get round to making sone wedding plans! Can't wait to make save the dates and invites.

Here is a card I made for a challenge whilst on retreat with Monica Gale in September. We were only allowed to use 2 colours eek! Check out her blog for some amazing Stampin' Up inspiration.

I absolutely love the dictionary background stamp and have recently purchased it so watch this space for more use to that. I'm excited to get crafting at the moment which is good as my mojo disappeared along with any time I may have had. So now I'm back in to my crafting I need to get Scrapbooking again. I had so many fantastic experiences last year that I desperately need to scrap. Roll on ScrapaGoGo in March.

Bye for now
