~ Like For Ever - November Moodboard ~

Good morning from a cold and dreary UK! Its a good job Christmas is during winter otherwise I would be totally over this season! Although its a little early to have Christmas decorations up in November, mine go up the first weekend in December.

Every month Nicola compiles a Moodboard to give us inspiration with our Like For Ever Kit. This month's is right down my street. Will you just look at those pinks and blues!!! I'm squealing slightly at the thought of them.

I used mostly the 'Stargazer' kit to create this 12x12 page but added in a few bits and pieces from my stash. I used the colour scheme, florals, glitzy dress and script from the Moodboard as my inspiration.

I'm so in love with these beautiful teal blue glittery thicker words, the script font is perfect. I added quite a few gold texture paste stars to add interest to the plain background. The pink patterned paper has some pale pink flowers and I used the butterfly paper as I imagine my cat is dreaming of chasing butterflies.

I've left a lot of white space on this layout but I tried really hard not to add anything extra to it. I'm really pleased with how it looks. I've had these photos of my little boy cat asleep on our bed for a while and have been waiting for inspiration to get it scrapped. He is such a little cutie!!

~ #FRIEND ~

It has been a busy week for me and I finally got chance at the weekend to play with this months Like For Ever 'Stargazer' Kit. It contains lots of beautiful products including many from the Pink Paislee 'Moonstruck' collection.

The beautiful watercolour script patterned paper was calling out to be used as a background. As it is so pretty I didn't want to cover it up too much either. I went with a couple of groupings of paper and embellishments.

The thickers from the collection have a pretty delicate gold foil floral design on them that is difficult to photograph but stunning in real life.

The butterflies, floral and small sentiments were all cut from a piece of the moon struck patterned paper that has small squares of different patterns all over it.

(I need to apologise for the first half of the video as my layout was not in focus)

I'm hoping I manage to get in a little bit of scrapbooking after the hairdressers and before dinner out tomorrow but who knows. The weather is cold here now and I love being curled up on the sofa in front of a movie.

~ Birds of a Feather - Paige Taylor Evans teaching event ~

Wow, I had a fantastic day in Coventry on Sunday at Birds of A Feather's first event which featured a guest designer/teacher in the form of the fabulous Paige Taylor Evans!

She designed and taught 4 great classes, all featuring her Pink Paislee 'Take Me Away' collection. It was refreshing to scrap with such small photos as I'm often drawn to 6x4 prints.

This layout came together pretty quickly really. We backed the white floral cut file with different pattern papers from the collection. Trying not to have the same patterns together. This photo is from our trip to Latvia earlier in the year. We actually took a cable car and then walked to the castle in the distance.

The second class was an ingenious way to use up all the manufacturer strips from patterned papers. We cut off all the strips and then stuck them to a cardstock ampersand to create the striped effect. Lots of clusters of embellishment helps weigh out the page. I had to adapt the photo cluster a little as Paige used a 3.5 inch square photo but mine wouldn't work with the overlapping smaller frames. I picked another Latvia photo and in true British style journalled about the weather!

Class three was probably my least favourite but works really well with my photo. We hand cut the patterned paper letters using templates then distressed them and outlined in black ink to make them stand out.

Throughout the day if we had finished a class Paige encouraged us to fussy cut some flowers out of various patterned papers. I am so glad she did as I wouldn't have liked to sit down at the end of the day and cut out all these flowers! Great concept and all the layers of flowers look stunning in real life.

It was a great day and was lovely to see friends both old and new. Hey Little Magpie were on site with a fabulous shop as ever. I can't wait to see what Birds of a Feather have in store for their next events when their website is up and running.

~ Exciting News!!! ~

I'm so excited to announce a new adventure for me and my crafting!

I have been chosen to be part of the 2017 GoGo Getaway Design Team. I am part of a team of fantastic ladies who will be designing and teaching classes at next years Getaway scrapbook retreats.

I have been attending the March GoGo Getaway at Theobalds Park DeVere Hotel for the last 6 years. I absolutely love my weekend away from day to day life and I can immerse myself in pretty papers and glittery thickers.

I'm still a little shocked and it feels rather surreal that I will now be teaching at these brilliant weekends. I can't wait to get stuck in and design some amazing classes! It would be great to see some of you there.

~ Lazy Days ~

Tomorrow I'm heading down to Coventry for the first Birds of a Feather event which is a day of classes taught by the fabulous Paige Taylor Evans.

As a pre-event challenge we were asked to create a layout/card using teal/sky blue and 3 of something. I was still playing with my Like For Ever 'harmony' kit to create this 9x12 page.

I absolutely love these super cute birds from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes 'gather' collection sticker sheet. I used 3 flowers and 3 hearts on my page and the flowers are also aqua/teal.

Over the last two days of our holiday in Uzbekistan we enjoyed spending time in this book cafe reading, drinking coffee, eating cake and watching the world go by. It was nice to have a few chilled out days at the end of a busy tour.

I will be back next week to show you what classes Paige taught us at the weekend.

~ Drive ~

Happy Tuesday, it's an exciting day in our house as we have an IKEA delivery due with new furniture which includes new desks for my craft room! Super excited!

At the weekend I finally got round to playing with my Ali Edwards 'drive' story kit. It is working fantastically for documenting the interesting road conditions and our long drives in Uzbekistan.

I love the acrylic words which come in the kits. They make such a striking title. It's quite a simple layout from me but I wanted to make the photo and story the star of the page. I think I took this photo when we stopped for a desert pee stop.

Some of the roads outside the cities in Uzbekistan were shocking. Not as bad as some of the African and South East Asian countries but when compared to the city infrastructure it wasn't great.

Unfortunately due to the changes in the dollar-pound exchange rate and the fact that we are planning a few big trips again next year I have decided to cancel my story kit & stamp subscriptions. I'm a bit gutted but to be honest they were piling up and mostly unused.

I will hopefully be back towards the end of the week with more pages to show you. I'm planning on doing a craft room tour when it is finished.

~ Tashkent Title Page ~

Hi there, I'm here with a quick post of a page I created for my travel album. I'm enjoying getting to grips with my photos from our Uzbekistan trip. Especially using some extra large photos.

This layout uses elements from the Shimelle 'Go Now Go' collection. It is a very simple page but I like the striking photo of Amir Temur in front of our iconic Hotel in Tashkent. I like using large photo layouts to identify a change in city or country when creating my travel albums.

Thanks for looking.

~ Like For Ever Guest Designer - Love you ~

Today I'm over on the Like For Ever Blog with my final creation as their October Guest Designer. I have loved creating with this month's 'Harmony' kit.

It has been a great month for me creatively and I find having a deadline gives me focus and motivation to create when I could very easily procrastinate. I would advise anyone to have a go at applying for Design Teams or Guest Designer spots because they are so much fun. If only I didn't have to work!

~ Like For Ever Guest Designer - Registan Square ~

Wow, what a busy October I am having so far! I'm back again over on the Like For Ever Blog this time with a mixed media 9x12 layout.

I used the free cut file to create my own stencil for misting and texture paste. There is a process video on the Like For Ever Blog where you can see how I get on using it.

This is a short but sweet post today as I am short on time. Keep a look out as I will be back soon with an off the page project for my final Guest Designer submission.

~ Holiday Reading ~

We are currently planning our travels for next year and its made me think about our trips over the last couple of years. I haven't shared this page on my blog yet as I'm not overly happy with the photos I took of it. The white background looks almost blue in the photos.

Any suggestions of destinations for our trips? Where have you been that you have loved! There are so many ideas floating around - Burma, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Madagascar, Morocco, Darjeeling - India!!!

This photo is of my fiancé having a well earned rest at the end of our South India tour in January 2015. He isn't one to read normally so it is worthy of scrapping when he does.

I love adding splatters of brightly colourful mist on a white background. Adding in subtle elements for embellishment to try and create subtle decoration. Lots of layers of pattered paper clustered under the 6x4 photo.

I'm back with my next layout as Guest Designer for the Like For Ever October 'Harmony' Kit featuring Crate Paper Maggie Holmes 'Gather' and Pinkfresh Studios 'Indigo Hills' Collections.

I have used this month's kit cut file and one of the exclusive sketches created by Laura Rumble to make a clean geometric page.

You can find  the full layout and YouTube Process Video over on the Like For Ever blog or pop over to the shop to get your hands on this months fabulous kit!

~ Adventure Awaits - Uzbekistan ~

It's a bit of a dreary day here in my part of the UK. I'm feeling a little lazy today so I'm snuggled up on the sofa at midday in my pyjamas drinking tea and updating my blog (heaven!). I'm also dreaming of our next trip as I look at the photos from my latest travels.

This layout is a scraplift from the lovely talented Emma (@pollyspapercrafts) who is also a subscriber to the Like For Ever kits. She posted a photo of a similar layout on our kit subscribers facebook group and I immediately saved a screen shot for inspiration later. I even took the photo from the aeroplane window specifically to make this layout. The cut file was from the ?August Like For Ever kit (I think!)

This page has become the title page for my 9x12 Uzbekistan travel album which is slowly staring to take shape. I'm using a lot of the American Crafts Shimelle 'Go Now Go' collection in this album along with some Like For Ever kits to mix it all up a bit.

~ Snap Happy ~

Hi there, so I'm trying to catch up with some of my travel albums as I am so behind! These photos are from my trip to Cambodia in 2012.

I created this layout using Basic Grey 'Typeset' collection and some Ali Edwards stamps from the 'Wild' Story Stamp. Using a 7x5 black and white photo means it stands out well from the busy background.

Lots of small areas of layers and clusters of embellishments.

With a sprinkling of Gold Heidi Shine mist to add a little extra bling and texture.

~ Photo Love ~

This layout was featured on the Like For Ever Blog in August for Throwback Thursday and I completely forgot to put it up on my blog. I took this photo of my Dad whilst doing Ali Edward's Week in the Life. He always has his camera on his belt, ready to take that perfect snap.

I used some older Shimelle 'True Stories' collection papers for my layout. I absolutely loved all these papers. This was one of my first kits from Like For Ever and it was full of the most gorgeous stash!

Using Stazon black ink I stamped one of Ali Edward's beautiful script words to use as part of my title.

I cut out some of the patterned paper to use as embellishments on the page. As some of you may be aware, I do love a bit of fussy cutting although these weren't particularly difficult.

Life has been a little crazy recently. Lots of exciting things are happening including lots of trip planning for a milestone birthday next year!

~ It's been a while! ~

Well I'm sorry to say in recent months I have neglected my blog in favour of quick posting social media apps like Instagram and Facebook. However, I miss looking back at these posts so with an exciting October coming up I'm hoping to resurrect my craftiness featured here!

I'm currently enjoying playing with some mixed media especially mists and stencils. This layout was made using a recent Like For Ever kit which included the yellow mist and Heidi Swapp heart stencil.

As we head quickly in to winter I am planning to spend my days off tucked up in my pyjamas, playing with paper and watching my fill of YouTube videos. I have just come back from an amazing trip to Uzbekistan and am eager to document this fabulous trip so aim to be back soon!

~ Scraplifting ~

Happy Sunday! Its a lovely sunny day here so I'm taking the opportunity to photograph some of my recent layouts.

Now I'm not one to normally scrap lift other peoples layouts but I saw two striking pages created by ladies over on the Like For Ever Subscribers Facebook group and I knew their designs would fit my photos perfectly.

First up I used this page by Natalie Gibbons as my inspiration for a Vietnamese layout.

(Natalie's original page)

My page uses much brighter colours and I chose to use three black and white photos.

What I have enjoyed about this process is seeing how different a page can be because it has used different products and photos. I've used the June Like For Ever Kit 'In Bloom' for both my layouts and tried to embrace the bold colours. I've used this method of putting 3 6x4 portrait photos together across the page before but what struck me about Natalie's was the use of the cluster of frames in the bottom left corner.

I'm trying desperately to finish scrapbooking my Vietnam/Cambodia 2012 trip before heading off on our next adventure to Uzbekistan in September. I very much doubt I will get it finished but I will at least be closer.

The next layout I took inspiration from was this layered page by Christina Howard.

(Christina's Original Page)

I chose to use three photos instead of the single one on my page as I wanted to capture the different aspects of the story.

I already love layering paper & embellishments behind my photos but this took it to another level as there is just one area of decoration and a lot of white space. I love the concept and the final page but for me there needs to be a few more elements outside of the single cluster.

Again I used the Like For Ever 'In bloom' kit but I also added in the Ali Edwards 'Reading' story stamp set. It was also the stamp set that was the original inspiration for telling this story about how I decided to lay on the floor of our conservatory (before we had furniture) and read because the weather was so nice.

Thanks for reading.

~ In to the woods ~

I'm back again with another Latvia layout from the Ligatnes Nature Trails in Latvia. This time we were on the look out for Brown Bears.

To tie it in with the previous layout I have used the same Jillibean Soup 'Mushroom Medley' papers and the same large alpha and stickers as the pages will be side by side in the album. They almost look like a double page spread but they aren't.

I didn't mention on the previous post but I have added in some Ali Edwards stamps from the 'Wild' story stamp set as they worked perfectly with the theme. I am loving getting these every month along with the process videos and educational content.

We had already walked round the whole trail and the bears were no where to be seen but just as we were sat having an ice cream nearby they decided to come out of their house and explore. It was great to see the animals native to Latvia spread round a 5 km wooded trail, although some were rather elusive.

~ Like For Ever Sunday Challenge ~

Today I'm over on the Like For Ever Blog with their Sunday Challenge to use the phrase 'Let me tell you about...' Please head over to see the completed layout using this month's 'In Bloom' Kit. It is a fantastic brightly coloured kit which I am loving using.

This is my cover page for my Latvia layouts. I am trying to use some kraft cardstock on each layout to try and make them look cohesive. Lets see if that happens!
