~ April GoGo Getaway Challenge | Going Going Gone ~

I've joined in with Nancy's colour theme challenge over on the GoGo Getaway Facebook group and blog. I totally fell in love with this beautiful graduated coloured paper. It looks great behind the white cloud cut file.

I fussy cut cloud shapes from the Shimelle 'Little by Little' patterned paper and added them flat and also on 3D foam to create height to the layout. I tried to group embellishments of similar colours together at the same area as that specific colour on the graduated back ground.

The sunset in Galle, Sri Lanka was beautiful and we joked around using a polo mint to take photos through.

Would be great to see you join this months challenge, head to the Facebook group to see the full details.

~ GoGo Getaway | March 2017 ~

Mother's Day weekend saw me attend my second scrapbook retreat in March. GoGo Getaway is held at Theobalds Park Hotel in Hertfordshire and I have been going for a number of years now. But this time it was a little different as I was part of the GoGo Getaway Design Team. I had such an amazing time teaching classes, participating in other classes and getting to know the other delegates.

The organisers Niki, Janice and Lorraine had really gone to town with the décor and amazing little extras that GoGo Getaway is known for. It was brilliant to see the set up outside the crop room.

This was my first time teaching classes at GoGo Getaway and I was super nervous beforehand but absolutely loved it. It was amazing to see how the delegates added their own take on the class layouts.

The rooms were great as usual and comfy nights sleep. I slipped away for half an hour on the Saturday night to have some quiet time to myself before scrapping away in to the early hours.

I now can't wait until November when I will be teaching again at GoGo Getaway's new venture @ Haydock near Liverpool. There are still places available if you want to come and join us for some crafty fun!

~ Goodbye Like For Ever ~

I have to say that I am devastated to lose the UK Kit Club 'Like For Ever' this week. Unfortunately due to personal circumstances and financial viability Nicola has had to take the sad decision to close the company at the start of the new financial year.

I had subscribed to the kit club for almost two years and it was a real boost to my creativity. The kits were always full of the most up to date products that worked so well together.

I was fortunate to be Guest Designer for the 'Harmony' kit in October 2016 and I absolutely loved. It spurred me on to apply for and join the two Design Teams I am now on.

Nicola who ran Like For Ever is a lovely caring woman and I hope she continues to scrapbook from a personal perspective. The community of subscribers she built on the Like For Ever Facebook group is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and inspiring, my hope is that this community will continue despite the company's closure and I will still see Nicola at other scrapbooking events.

~ UK Scrap Addicts | Here & Now ~

Hello there, I'm back on the UK Scrap Addicts Blog today with my layout featuring sewing. Throughout the month of April the creative team will be sharing their layouts using a variety of different sewing methods.

My full layout and more comprehensive detail can be seen over on the blog. I used the scraps of 'Cool Kid' papers left over from my class at last month's Like For Ever retreat. I love using this collection for non-child related scrapping.

~ Like For Ever Retreat | Jackie Ashton Class ~

I took part in a fantastic class taught by Jackie Ashton from Birds of a Feather at the Like For Ever scrapbooking retreat.

She used the Crate Paper 'Cool Kid' collection to design and teach 2 9x12 layouts. She also provided instructions to complete another 12x12 layout and 9x12 pocket pages with the left over supplies from the class kit. The first layout uses a circle template with distress ink applied through it to create a background on the white cardstock.

The central pocket from the pocket page was used to create a transparent shaker pocket and was sealed using the fuse tool. I added a few puffy stickers and wood veneer from my stash.

I used the class to document my trip to the main market in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The bright vibrant colours are great for the colours in the market. I love how the bright colours in this collection complement the colours in my photos.

The layout below was the bonus 12x12 layout but I adapted it to create a 9x12 page for my Uzbekistan album. The chevron arrows in the background are less visible on this page as it had to be shrunk width wise from the original. I added a couple of flair badges and enamel dots from my stash.

It was great to use a collection for something that wasn't what the theme of the papers suggest. The collection is very much aimed at 'boy' photos. Thank you to Jackie for creating such a fantastic class.
