Crafty goings on!

Well I'm pleased that the UKS mini book event has started, and is keeping me occupied nicely. Below is the 1st of 10 minibooks. It was a Bellaboo design by Cleo Jarvis and is made completely from scratch. I decided to use 'Nature' as my theme as I had some photos from when Al and I have been to a couple of country parks.

I found it quite hard to decorate these two inner covers as I didn't want to use anymore photographs and I couldn't go very 3D.
I used some Basic Grey papers for the inner pages. Its took quite a while to get the pieces cut to the right size. This page has photos from when we went to Rother Valley Country Park at Christmas 2008.

This second page contains photos of Thrybergh Country Park in Rotherham. We went in January so it was cold but the sun was out so it was a gorgeous day.

This is a quick card I made for my Aunties Birthday. I used left over scraps of paper from one of my cleo crafts monthly kits and the free stamp off a previous Craft Stamper Magazine. Am really pleased with how it turned out.

Am hoping to start another minibook today, but it might end up just being a few cards. Can't wait until tomorrow morning as its Cleo crafts minibook on UKS so I'm hoping the kit I have bought for it arrives in the morning too.

Student to Staff Nurse! OMG!

Well its been an intense few weeks what with final placement, interviews and then the waiting... But I have now been successful at both my interviews. I have been offered a 12 month contract on an Orthopedic ward or a permanent job on a palliative care unit. I have some big decisions to make...

Back to crafting, my Cleo crafts August kit arrived yesterday and it is gorgeous. Lots of cosmo cricket Snorkel papers which are brilliant for summer scrapping, just a shame we haven't had much sun so far this summer. I am looking forward to the minibook summer event on UKS, plenty to keep me occupied while the other half is away in Scotland.

CJ Madness!

Well its been a while since I have Blogged because I have been busy with placement and applying for jobs. So fingers crossed that whn I finish uni at the end of September I will have a job to go too.

I have joined with a group of women who subscribe to the Cleo crafts monthly kit, to do a CJ. Mine is all about favourite music. I used the July Cleo crafts kit to decorate this book that I got from Paperchase. The kit consisted of papers from Basic Grey's Lime Rickety Collection plus lots of ribbons and mbellishments.

This is my DLO of Musicals and Meat Loaf. I love my dymo machine, I find it is great for doing sub titles on CJs or minibooks.

I have included a CD for each person in the CJ to add a few of their favourite tracks to. Can't wait to get it back in 10 months time.

The next pictures are of my DLO for the '1993' CJ. I found it really hard to choose what to do as people had already done alot of my ideas. I remember studying the 1993 mississippi floods when I did my Geography A level so thought it was a good topic.

This is my DLO for the 'Make a Wish' CJ in NIP's Sketch CJ on UKS. I decided not to choose something like where I would like to live in the future etc... I choose a more adventurous wish, for there to be an end to HIV/AIDS in the world. I have spent some time in Pune, India where 1.9% of the population are HIV positive and an organisation called Deep Griha are trying to suppport people and educate them regarding health, discrimination and stopping its spread.

Am now off to sent these CJs to their next participants and to keep the post office in business. Hopefully do some more scrapping today.

Finally time to scrap!

Here is my entry for the Childhood TV CJ in Nip's Sketch CJ on UKS. I couldn't decide which cartoon to do as I also loved Danger mouse and count duckula, but I eventually decided on Inspector Gadget. I am really pleased with my LOs. I used the last bits from my first ever Cleocrafts monthly kit (Daily Grind papers, Jan Kit).

This is my LO for SLYMI week 23 challenge - scrap a self portrait. I had this photo taken about a year and a half ago but have never got round to scrapping it. Here was the perfect motivation!

Charity Shop Bargin!

I went to my local hspice charity shop to drop off a load of clothes that I had cleared out and look what I found! These glass jars are perfect for storing my buttons. They were only 40p each so I am really chuffed with them.

Cleo's blog challenge and SLYMI

Here is my entry for the blog competition over on Cleo Crafts blog. I used one of their monthly kits plus some extras from my stash. These papers are gorgeous and I new straight away which photos to use for it.
Shimelle's SLYMI challenge on UKS. Use the minimalist sketch. I found this quite hard as I usually like plenty of embellishments etc to complement my pages.

It has been a busy two weeks!

Today we went to the Chestnut Centre in the Peak District. It specialises in Otters and Owls. It has been a glorious day and many photos have been taken (Am sure I have suitable papers to scrap them with). Below is a photo of a giant otter.

There is a deer park which you can just wander through, the deer are really friendly. I didn't need my zoom at all!

The view of Kinder Scout from the deer park.
Last weekend was the end of year Physio Ball at Uni so my boyfriend got us tickets. It was an amazing night held at the Cutler's Hall in Sheffield. It was such a grand venue. As you can imagine lots of photos were taken, so watch this space for LOs.

Finally this picture is one taken in our garden before we went to the Greenhead House Restaurant, Chapeltown. It has been altered on picasa, the black and white really shows up the sunlight and shadows.

Not much time for scrapping!

Unfortunately I haven't had much time to do any scrapping this week as I have just started a new placement. I'm on a busy General Surgery ward and as its my last placement before qualifying its important that I give it my all. I'm there for 12 weeks without a holiday.

Have ordered more stash from www.cleocrafts.co.uk I'm getting so much stash I don't know where to start sometimes. Looking forward to their June Monthly kit, the sneaky on their blog looks interesting!

Dabble Day

I went to a Dabble Day run by Blyth Craft Emporium (Kim who is sometimes on create and craft). We made 6 cards in total. Have just added a few.

This oriental one is my favourite. I really enjoyed making it. Its wasn't too complex but looks very effective. I bought the stamps so watch this space!

This is my entry for the My Town, Your Town CJ in my CJ Lovers CJ on UKS. I live in Rotherham which is not really famous for anything, it does have a couple of nice features but as do most towns. Therefore I chose to do mine about Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food.

So much has happened!

Its been a while since I have last posted and soooo much has happened! So I will give you a quick update.

On 28th March I went with my BF and friends to the EDF energy anglo-welsh rugby union semi-finals at thw Ricoh stadium, Coventry. A good day had by all.
Then it was time for our annual brownie pack holiday, this years theme was the Wizard of Oz.
Oh dear! the house fell on the Wicked Witch of the East!

Here are the leaders, what a motley crew. I was the tin man. I couldn't sit down in my outfit, lol.
I have joined a Music ATC swap on UKScrappers, below are my two sets of ten. The first is a song from the musical 'Les Miserables'. The song Red and Black always gets stuck in my head.

The second is one of my favourite Meat Loaf Songs 'Martha' from his Welcome to the Neighbourhood album.

Below are my entries for NIP's Sketch CJ on UKS - It was favourite recipes. These are 2 Jamie Oliver Recipes from Ministry of Food. As a Rotherham Citizen I am doing my duty to PASS IT ON!
