~ Birds of a Feather - Paige Taylor Evans teaching event ~

Wow, I had a fantastic day in Coventry on Sunday at Birds of A Feather's first event which featured a guest designer/teacher in the form of the fabulous Paige Taylor Evans!

She designed and taught 4 great classes, all featuring her Pink Paislee 'Take Me Away' collection. It was refreshing to scrap with such small photos as I'm often drawn to 6x4 prints.

This layout came together pretty quickly really. We backed the white floral cut file with different pattern papers from the collection. Trying not to have the same patterns together. This photo is from our trip to Latvia earlier in the year. We actually took a cable car and then walked to the castle in the distance.

The second class was an ingenious way to use up all the manufacturer strips from patterned papers. We cut off all the strips and then stuck them to a cardstock ampersand to create the striped effect. Lots of clusters of embellishment helps weigh out the page. I had to adapt the photo cluster a little as Paige used a 3.5 inch square photo but mine wouldn't work with the overlapping smaller frames. I picked another Latvia photo and in true British style journalled about the weather!

Class three was probably my least favourite but works really well with my photo. We hand cut the patterned paper letters using templates then distressed them and outlined in black ink to make them stand out.

Throughout the day if we had finished a class Paige encouraged us to fussy cut some flowers out of various patterned papers. I am so glad she did as I wouldn't have liked to sit down at the end of the day and cut out all these flowers! Great concept and all the layers of flowers look stunning in real life.

It was a great day and was lovely to see friends both old and new. Hey Little Magpie were on site with a fabulous shop as ever. I can't wait to see what Birds of a Feather have in store for their next events when their website is up and running.

Happy Crafting!
